25 Years of IT Experience to Serve Your Needs: As you might have deduced from reading this blog, my about page, or my LinkedIn, I have experience with a broad range of IT projects. How can I help you?
Mobile Wizard: Although I’m new to the mobile development space, I believe that it has the most potential for future growth. And I find the challenges posed by limited system resources and screen real estate fascinating. I am focusing on iPhone/iPad and Android for now, but I have the toolset needed for Windows Phone 7 and Blackberry as well.
Database Wrangler: I’ve been working with Microsoft SQL Server for over 15 years. I’ve worked with performance tuning, infrastructure planning, clustering, and replication. Recently I’ve taken on MySql to broaden my portfolio. For what it’s worth, I’m Microsoft DBA certified, which basically means that I turned up, took a test, and passed. In my younger days, I also spent a lot of time with Microsoft Access. I can definitely help you upsize your Access application to a more robust platform. I spent the last year working for a large multinational investment bank on Oracle 10g and 11g, so I’m comfortable in a multi-platform environment.
Web Plumber: I work in the space where web applications, web services, and databases collide. If you need a custom database application behind your website, or you need help getting your site to interact with external services, I can help. I work with both open source and Microsoft stack, specifically PHP or ASP/ASPX for server scripting, MySQL or Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle for database, and jQuery for client side scripting. I’ve spent the last 12 years working on a large SQL/ASP enterprise application with 30,000 users worldwide.
Network Mechanic: I’ve been playing with networks since Novell and ArcNet were the hot ticket. I’ve played with servers, routers, terminal servers, VPNs, and more. I’ve had very good success building out inexpensive open source based router/VPN solutions lately – I should blog about that 🙂 And yes, I’m Microsoft MCSE certified, and I got my Novell CNE way back when. And last but not least, I added a CISSP certification last year, which is considered one of the top information security credentials.
Business Builder: I have worked in everything from startups to multinationals, and I have had my own consulting business since 1999. I’m no Donald Trump, but I do know an income statement from a balance sheet.
My Rates: If you made it this far, you may be thinking “there’s no way I can afford to hire a guy with this many skills.” Au contraire, mon frere. I only charge $100.00 per hour for my services. And as always, I’m glad to bid on projects on a flat rate basis.
